Rivers Women Call for Prayers, Peace

Women in Rivers State have called on residents to turn to God as a pathway to lasting peace and sustainable development, describing prayers as the beginning of a new dawn for the state.

The women, who gathered on Thursday, January 29, 2026, stressed that women remain at the forefront of societal transformation through sustained prayers and active contributions to family life and the economy.

Speaking at the prayer session themed β€œEbenezer: Our Hope and Help,” Pastor Eno Jerry Eze said Rivers State would experience abundance through God, urging women not to remain silent but to focus on God to attract positive change. She encouraged them to cast away fear, noting that God remains a constant source of hope and help in difficult times.

Also speaking, Apostle Opuaya Biminiayefie Agha declared that every foundational challenge confronting Rivers State would be broken, paving the way for progress and development. She called on women across the state to rise en masse and pray, commending the convener of Rivers Women Unite for SIM for organising the prayer session at the beginning of the year

A former Commissioner for Environment, Prof. Roseline Konya, said the prayer meeting was aimed at committing Rivers State to God as the year begins. She urged residents to embrace peace as a catalyst for development across all sectors, assuring that women would continue to pray for positive change in the state.

The event climaxed with the cutting of a cake to mark the 51st birthday of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and to symbolise hope for a new dawn in Rivers State.
