The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed the collapse of Tower T35 along the Eket–Ikot Abasi 132kV transmission line following an act of vandalism on October 12, 2025.

According to a statement by TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, inspection revealed that several tower components were dismantled and carted away at the site in Ete Community, Ikot Abasi LGA. Nearby towers were also found to have been tampered with.

The incident has disrupted bulk power supply to the Eket and Ekim Transmission Substations and the Ibom Power Station, affecting electricity distribution to customers in both towns.

TCN said it has begun mobilizing resources for the tower’s reconstruction and restoration, while urging communities to help safeguard power infrastructure against further vandalism.
